On 28 July three great Olympians, nine-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis, Kenyan marathon champion and peace advocate Tegla Loroupe and Russian Olympic gold medalist Tatyana Lebedeva donated a statue entitled World Peace Dreamer to our nation’s capital (London, England).

The life-sized statue depicts the founder of the World Harmony Run, Sri Chinmoy, holding aloft the Peace Torch that runners have been carrying around the globe for the past 25 years, through over 100 nations, on a mission of peace and harmony.

“It is our hope that amidst all the excitement and fast pace of Olympic competition, this statue will remind us of the highest ideals of the Olympic Games : peace and friendship between all nations. Sri Chinmoy was my mentor for more than thirty years – and the most peaceful person I have ever known”. Carl Lewis
